As long as Sheets stays healthy, they'll have the best starting pitching in the division and you can't knock their young offensive phenoms, particularly Prince Fielder. I see the Brew Crew competing with the Cubbies for the division title down the stretch. Chicago now has one of the games best managers in Lou Piniella and D-Lee seems to be back to his old form. The Cards should be very disappointing compared to last year, as Jim Edmonds and Scott Rolen's best days are behind them. Overall, they have a better pitching staff than the A's and could do slightly better in offense, as long as Garret Anderson's hitting continues to get back to its old form. April 7, 2007 Re: NL East Predictions (By: Jaydawg) I totally disagree with this prediction. Nobody in the N.L. can match the Mets all-around game. From top to bottom, I can't find any weaknesses there. If all goes as expected, we'll likely see another Subway World Series in October. The Phils could compete for the Wild Card, especially if their young prospects continue to live up to their capabilities, but you can't count out the Braves. August 07, 2006 Who do you think will win the Comeback Player of The Year Award in the A.L. & N.L.? (By: Jaydawg) For a while, the N.L. comeback player appeared to be Nomar Garciaparra, but he's been hampered by injuries once again. I'd give the award to Carlos Beltran, who's been consistently in the Mets lineup all season long and has proven that his rookie year was no fluke. He's now playing up to his potential again. March 21, 2006 Which MLB Team Has The Best Reserves? (By: Jaydawg) I'm a Dodger fan, but looking at it objectively--Vin Scully style--, I'd have to say that L.A. has the best reserves in the majors. They have guys such as, Jayson Worth, Hee Seop Choi, Cesar Izturis, and Olmedo Saenz, who are all capable of being quality starters on most teams. The Blue Jays should be a close second with Eric Hinske, Reed Johnson, and Gregg Zaun. When the starters are struggling, you need a solid bench to pick up the slack. February 20, 2006 Who Will Win The A.L. East? (By: Jaydawg) On paper, no one is better than the Yankees. 'Ol Georgie's teams are always the best money can buy, though he does overpay sometimes. Johnny Damon is a good player, but he's definitely not worth $52 million. If George wants him, he gets him, no matter the cost. The Blue Jays are one of the most improved teams in both pitching and offense. The additions of A.J. Burnett, B.J. Ryan, Troy Glaus, and Lyle Overbay should help Toronto win the Wild Card. Who knows? They might even win the division if the Yankees are plagued with injuries.
