I modded PlayerTrack this afternoon to allow the user to change the minimum at bats. This is useful to weed out the "prorated" players like Mike Jacobs, Jeremy Hermida, Jorge Piedra, Reggie Sanders, and the other prorated players who are higher than usual under the previous scheme. It is also a good way to weed out perennially injured players (Sanders again) from players who, say, had 600 or more ABs last year. |

Re: Rotoman's Regulars League (By: Reedster) |
I end the draft with Brazoban. I am not too happy with this team, but I wasn't happy drafting 13th. I have a LOT of gaps. Without one really stellar SB guy, I'm middle of the pack there at best. Lots of gambles. C: Joe Mauer 1B: Mike Jacobs 2B: Felipe Lopez 3B: Chipper Jones SS: JJ Hardy OF: Bobby Abreu OF: J.D. Drew OF: Jay Payton UTIL: Mark Loretta BN: Ryan Church BN: Orlando Hudson BN: Carl Everett SP: Roy Oswalt SP: Jon Garland RP: Mike Gonzalez RP: Scot Shields P: Justin Duchscherer P: Adam Eaton P: Jarrod Washburn BN: Yhency Brazoban Thoughts? Suggestions? Last comment by: Reedster @ 2/26/06, 9:29pm |

I am always reiterating this, but it holds true. This isn't about who we think you should pick this year. This is about seeing what happened last season -- i.e., who were the best players last season. Sanders definitely deserves Top 3 consideration among OFs, last year. As we pointed out, in less than 300 ABs, he had 21 HRs and 14 SBs with a .271 average. The average, of course, was somewhat lacking for a top guy. If you assume that the average players gets about 650 ABs a season, imagine what the RBI and HR numbers could have been. Of course, the issue is whether Sanders can or will play a full season. This answer has to... Last comment by: Reedster @ 2/26/06, 11:56am |

Re: Rotoman's Regulars League (By: Reedster) |
I am going to be live blogging my first draft of the roto season tomorrow (5:30pm PST). I am expecting this to be an example of why playing in a 20 team league is a complete crap shoot. I pick 13th, so my first pick is #13, my second pick is #27, and my third pick is #40. Not sure how anyone can make a half way decent team in this spot. I will try. I am thinking that I am going to have to rely on gambles, though. So, I will either be the best team, or the worst team. No in between. Last comment by: Reedster @ 2/26/06, 9:29pm |

I have joined the Regulars League at askrotoman.com (I advertised this site and PlayerTrack in his magazine this year -- the one with the powder blue cover and Pujols on the cover). Serpentine. I just learned that I will be picking 13th. That will REALLY put me to the test. This draft is this weekend, so I will post up my results to get your opinions. When Belle was with the Indians, an opposing manager went to the umpires and told them Belle was using a corked bat. The umpires confiscated Belle's bat and had it locked in the umpires dressing room, until after the game when they could hand it over to baseball officials. While the game was going on, the Indians had pitcher Jason Grimsley crawl through the air ducts so he could get into the umpires dressing room and switch the corked bat with a legitimate one. When Grimsley was ready to go he told the equipment guy to get him another one of Belle's bats for the switch. The equipment guy said, "I can't give you another one of...
